The Rutland 8th graders had an opportunity to learn more about business and entrepreneurship yesterday at DSU where Junior Achievement hosted an event! over 80 8th grade students from Rutland, Chester, Oldham-Ramona, and Colman-Egan were in attendance. The day was spent learning, problem solving, and examining how businesses start and it really was a great experience for the kids. At the end of the day, groups had to do a "Shark Tank" type "pitch" regarding a new product/business...Students from Rutland (and one from Oldham-Ramona) got second place! It was a good day!

Hello Rutland Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Friends,
We are going to be doing our House Cup (formally known as Field Day) again this year. We are planning on having it on Wednesday, May 4th from 9:30am-2:45pm at the Rutland school.
We are going to be working through stations as we have done for the last few years but this year, we are looking for volunteers to help us run the stations throughout the day. Voter registration for the Rutland School District #39-4 Election to be held on May 10, 2022, will close on April 25, 2022. Failure to register by this date will cause forfeiture of voting rights for this election. If you are in doubt about whether you are registered, check the Voter Information Portal at www.sdsos.gov or call the Lake County Auditor at 605-256-7600 or the Moody County Auditor at 605-997-3161.
Registration may be completed during regular business hours at the county auditor’s office, municipal finance office, secretary of state’s office, and those locations which provide driver’s licenses, SNAP, ANF, WIC, military recruitment, and assistance to the disabled as provided by the Department of Human Services. You may contact the county auditor to request a mail-in registration form or access a mail-in form at www.sdsos.gov.
Voters with disabilities may contact the county auditor for information and special assistance in voter registration, absentee voting, or polling place accessibility.

Good morning! The State of South Dakota has approved the plan presented to them for consolidation with Oldham-Ramona. In moving forward with this process we will be having a joint community meeting on Friday, April 22nd at 6:00PM at the Prairie Playhouse in Madison, SD. We encourage you to attend! The community vote will be on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 in the Rutland gym (for registered Rutland voters). There you will be able to cast your vote between the hours of 700AM and 7:00PM. 6-12th Grade Rutland Project Fair - Please join us tomorrow evening from 6:00-8:00PM at the school. Students are excited to showcase their learning and our seniors will have their senior experience boards on display...Please come celebrate our students accomplishments if you're free/able! Good afternoon! The Rutland 6-12th grade music students, directed by Ms. Hannah, will be performing a pops concert tomorrow night at 6:30. Students are asked to arrive at 6:10. There will be popcorn and pop available (free-will donation). All proceeds will go to support the Rutland Music Department. We hope to see you there!
The Rutland School will be starting at 10:00 tomorrow morning, Wednesday, February 23rd due to forecasted cold temperatures and windchills. Busses will run an hour and a half late and there will be no morning breakfast. Please dress warm and be safe! We'll see everyone tomorrow!
February 7-11 is designated as National School Counselor Week. We would like to send a special thank you to our counselor Mrs. Burshiem. She does so much for our school and we are happy and lucky to have her on our team!
Boys Basketball/Cheer Senior Night is going to be rescheduled for Tuesday, February 8th against Chester. Initially it was discussed to be held on Monday, January 31st, but with that night being a double header, we felt it best to move it to a night where just a boys game was being played. We will celebrate all senior boys basketball players, senior cheerleaders, and their parents on Tuesday the 8th. Thank you!

Good afternoon..The community One-Act play performance that was scheduled for tomorrow night will be rescheduled. The community performance will now be next Sunday, January 23rd at 7:00PM in the Rutland gym. The One-Act Regional Tournament will be this Wednesday, January 19th at the SDSU Performing Arts Theatre in Brookings, SD. The cast is set to perform at 10:00AM that morning and the public is welcome to attend. Thank you!

The double-header originally scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 3rd. The JV will play at 5:00PM with the girls varsity at 6:15 and the boys varsity game to follow.
