Good morning, the winds seemed to have moved some of the snow out there. School is still on time, but please let students know to drive safe. With the recent school cancellations due to snow, the Rutland School Board discussed and approved making up 2 (for now, to be again discussed at future meetings) of the missed days.
With the changes, we will plan to have school next Monday, January 16th (full school day), to make up one of the missed days. Additionally, we will also be having school on Friday, February 17th with an early dismissal at 2:00 and staff inservice planned from 2:00 until the end of the day. Please take note of these changes and plan accordingly. Thank you for your understating!
***Reminder - The public performance for the One-Act play will be tonight! At 7:00, "Attention Detention" will be preformed in the Rutland gymnasium. There will be a free-will donation for entry/popcorn/water. Competition for the One-Act will be on Wednesday, January 18th in Brookings. We hope to see you tonight!

Good morning. December 23rd through the 26th is the SDHSAA Winter Moratorium. This means that school facilities (gyms/weight rooms/etc.) are closed to all teams (elementary, junior high, junior varsity, and varsity). Usage of the facility can resume on Tuesday, December 27th. ****The Rutland School will be closed Friday December 16th, 2022. The basketball games scheduled for tomorrow night will be rescheduled and we'll get you that information as soon as we have it. Additionally, teachers will be connecting with students via email prior to noon tomorrow regarding any updates on finals for next week (review material, practice, etc.). Monday will be utilized as a review for finals on Tuesday and Wednesday to end our semester. As a reminder, the music concert will also be taking place next Wednesday at 4:00PM. ****The Rutland School will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, December 15. The basketball game vs. Deubrook will be postponed to Friday night, December 16th. The ORR Raiders will have a double header that evening in White. The schedule for the basketball game will be as follows: 4:00PM-JH boys and girls; 5:00-JV boys and girls; 6:15-girls varsity, with the boys varsity to follow the girls game (appx. 7:45).

***Concert Change - Due the forecasted storm and start of the rain here in Rutland, the Christmas Concert that was scheduled for this evening will be moved to next Wednesday, December 21st at 4:00PM in the Rutland gymnasium. The polls are open today for the community to vote for school board representation in the new district. The polls will close at 7:00PM and the poll workers will pack up the ballots and take them to Madison. They will be counted there (along with OR’s and any absentee). Once the results have been tallied and are able to be public (it might be after 8:00 or 8:30 depending on how long this takes), I will plan to send out a notification of the results.
